◆The Formation Years
The MYP has always known what kind of thinker to develop.
Research is clear: formal reasoning begins developing at 11 and reaches maturity around 15 or 16. But only if it’s practised. The capacity is there. The practice usually isn’t.
The IB MYP framework was built around this window. Its ATL skills describe exactly what needs to develop. What the framework doesn’t provide is a systematic way to exercise those skills outside the classroom.
Tark is the practice ground the MYP framework was always pointing toward.
— and why we built it for ages 11–16
How Tark maps to IB ATL skills
Critical and creative thinking, evaluating perspectives, revising understanding
Formulating arguments, articulating positions, expressing reasoning in writing
Reflection on learning, metacognitive awareness, understanding how you think
Perspective-taking, engaging honestly with positions unlike your own
Evaluating sources, forming evidence-based positions, intellectual curiosity
◆ Every completed challenge generates an ATL skills record for IB portfolio and coordinator review.
◆ 86 challenges · 9 IB-aligned topics · 5 reasoning levels: Seeker → Scholar
The years between 11 and 16 are the period in which the architecture of serious thinking is built.

◆How it works
Every student has a thinking partner.
Their avatar asks one question at a time and never gives the answer.
A GENUINE STARTING POINT
Where reasoning begins.
Every session begins with the student's own thinking — before anything else shapes it.
A THINKING PARTNER THAT IS YOURS
Named. Personal. Permanent.
Every student designs their own thinking partner — a name, a personality. The avatar is theirs for every challenge, every topic, across their years on the platform.
A REAL INTELLECTUAL ENCOUNTER
No easy agreements.
The thinking partner asks questions. It does not agree, it does not give answers, and it does not make it easy. Each exchange is personal to the student.
WHERE YOUR THINKING LANDS
A considered final position.
Students write a considered final position. Their Vichāra Profile™ records how their thinking developed across this session.
The thinking partner is named. Personal. Socratic.
Built to question, not to answer.
Each session builds the Vichāra Profile — a longitudinal portrait of how each student reasons, not what they know.
◆Real reasoning · Grade 8 · Bangalore
What reasoning development actually looks like.
“Should India slow down economic growth to protect the environment?”
Started with a simple yes-or-no answer. Ended by asking who actually bears the cost — and why that changes everything.
