IB MYP · Ages 11–16

Thinkingis a skill.Skills are builtthrough practice.

The years between 11 and 16 are when the capacity for independent thought is either built or isn’t. Tark is the reasoning practice platform for IB MYP students — where that capacity is built, session by session, across the programme.

Currently piloting with IB schools in Bangalore.

The Formation Years

The MYP has always known what kind of thinker to develop.

Research is clear: formal reasoning begins developing at 11 and reaches maturity around 15 or 16. But only if it’s practised. The capacity is there. The practice usually isn’t.

The IB MYP framework was built around this window. Its ATL skills describe exactly what needs to develop. What the framework doesn’t provide is a systematic way to exercise those skills outside the classroom.

Tark is the practice ground the MYP framework was always pointing toward.

How it works

Every student has a thinking partner.

Their avatar asks one question at a time and never gives the answer.

01

A GENUINE STARTING POINT

Where reasoning begins.

Every session begins with the student's own thinking — before anything else shapes it.

02

A THINKING PARTNER THAT IS YOURS

Named. Personal. Permanent.

Every student designs their own thinking partner — a name, a personality. The avatar is theirs for every challenge, every topic, across their years on the platform.

03

A REAL INTELLECTUAL ENCOUNTER

No easy agreements.

The thinking partner asks questions. It does not agree, it does not give answers, and it does not make it easy. Each exchange is personal to the student.

04

WHERE YOUR THINKING LANDS

A considered final position.

Students write a considered final position. Their Vichāra Profile™ records how their thinking developed across this session.

The thinking partner is named. Personal. Socratic.
Built to question, not to answer.

Each session builds the Vichāra Profile — a longitudinal portrait of how each student reasons, not what they know.

Real reasoning · Grade 8 · Bangalore

What reasoning development actually looks like.

1
Topical Challenge
Environment & Growth

“Should India slow down economic growth to protect the environment?”

2
Student’s Response

“The real issue isn’t growth vs environment as a choice — it’s who bears the cost. That asymmetry is what makes this question genuinely hard.”

3
How Their Reasoning Grew

Started with a simple yes-or-no answer. Ended by asking who actually bears the cost — and why that changes everything.

For IB Schools

After a term on Tark, you know how your students actually think — not just what they produce. Built for the MYP. Builds into your existing programme.

THE FULL JOURNEY

From your first big question to your Personal Project — every challenge counts.

Here’s the reasoning arc your students build across the MYP.

Grade 5(pre-MYP)

Your First Big Question

Form your first real positions on things that matter.

Grade 6–7

Building Your Thinking

Build honest thinking habits. Start seeing other positions.

Grade 8–9

Thinking in Context

Apply deeper thinking. Community Project companion activates.

Grade 10

Your Personal Project

Everything you've built arrives here.

What your students bring to Grade 10:

📊A reasoning record across 3+ topics
A Vichāra Profile showing how they think
ATL evidence mapped to IB criteria
📝A process journal of thinking, not just doing
A Thinking Profile Observation — their own

And beyond MYP

The portrait your students build in MYP
is the foundation they carry into DP.

Tark extends into the IB Diploma Programme — with Extended Essay integration, TOK Exhibition support, and a 9-dimension reasoning profile that maps to DP Assessment Objectives.
